Mandate Combat AIDS in Niger. Establish legislative frameworks that are conducive to combating AIDS. Initiate proposals on the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and efforts to combat it. Organize national, subregional and international forums on policies, plans and programmes to combat AIDS.
Membership A bureau composed of six MPs. Over 40 MPs are members of the Network; they have a five-year mandate.
Working methods The Network has a plan of action that is examined in depth by the members of the Bureau before it is adopted by the Network's General Assembly. The Bureau is responsible for implementing and following up activities.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies The Network represents the National Assembly at all national, subregional and international AIDS events. It reports back to the plenary of the National Assembly.
Relations with external bodies The Netowork is a member of the National AIDS Council. This is the national umbrella organization chaired by the President of the Republic. The Network has close ties with ministries, technical and financial partners and all stakeholders involved in the fight against AIDS.
Subjects dealt with Drafting of a bill on the prevention and treatment of AIDS and efforts to combat it. The text will be adopted during the current session of the National Assembly (March-May 2007).
